Rx Express 2002

The Rx Express has two goals:

(1)             To demonstrate dramatic savings on prescription drugs for seniors and persons with disabilities.

(2)             To reinforce the urgent need for action by Congress on an affordable Medicare prescription drug benefit.

Rx Express Fast Facts

What: Alliance for Retired Americans-sponsored Rx Express bus trips to Canada by seniors.  
When: Begun in May 2002, the trips will continue indefinitely throughout 2002;times will vary by state.
Where: Buses have departed from more than a dozen states that border Canada.
Who: Seniors and persons with disabilities who have difficulty paying for huge prescription drug bills—the result of price gouging by the pharmaceutical industry.
Why: Because prescription drugs are too expensive!  The trips will highlight the  need for a comprehensive, universal prescription drug benefit under Medicare by showing the incredible savings— already over $500,000—by U.S. seniors on prescription drugs purchased in Canada.
