Rx Express 2002
The Rx Express has two goals:
(1) To demonstrate dramatic savings on prescription drugs for seniors and persons with disabilities.
(2) To reinforce the urgent need for action by Congress on an affordable Medicare prescription drug benefit.
| What: | Alliance for Retired Americans-sponsored Rx Express bus trips to Canada by seniors. |
| When: | Begun in May 2002, the trips will continue indefinitely throughout 2002;times will vary by state. |
| Where: | Buses have departed from more than a dozen states that border Canada. |
| Who: | Seniors and persons with disabilities who have difficulty paying for huge prescription drug billsthe result of price gouging by the pharmaceutical industry. |
| Why: | Because prescription drugs are too expensive! The trips will highlight the need for a comprehensive, universal prescription drug benefit under Medicare by showing the incredible savings already over $500,000by U.S. seniors on prescription drugs purchased in Canada. |
