February 01, 2003. 9:00 AM EST, NASA lost contact with STS-107-S-002. It was soon evident that the US space program had again suffered another tragedy. Flags were flown at half staff across the US. Media converged on the Columbia exhibit at the Smithsonian Air&Space Museum, Washington DC
