Photos taken on September 11, a few hours after the attack on the Pentagon, by my roommate Nelu. He left his Lab in DC at around 1 PM and took his camera. By that time, the police had cordoned off most of the area and he was not able to get in close to take photos. He took what he could of the other side of the building and of the gathering crowds. The first photo is a jet landing at Regan National Airport, sometime in August. There is a park next to the airport, a popular spot, and the jets fly rather close to the city as they land or take off from National Airport. Flights were grounded for weeks at DCA after the attacks.
